  • I love cookbooks by Mark Bittman. Just wish there were more recipes from Hawaii in the book. But I really recommend it.

  • I have not had this book for over a month and I have used a ton. I love the design and good information. There is an issue that I can imagine that it covers. It is a great, great book.

  • If you are an experienced cook most of the information is pretty basic. It would be good for someone who does not know their way around a kitchen. Although this book is heavy - not the kind that you can easily read in bed!

  • The tile is explained by what is too pretentious. The biggest problem is size, I'm afraid because I'm moving my other cookbooks, not only because its so big and are easier to navigate. I love to read my cookbooks and recipes so you can see what the chef has been cleared of what helps me learn and grow as a cook because I know what goes well with the wise and what is not after the chef created recipes. This book feels like you're trying to do too much instead of dominating one thing very well and that bogs down especially when it comes to seeing things or as I read it straight through (there are too many (see the page just tal).'ve cooked it and the food is good (not good), but only feels like a chef's ego is inflated by saying that this is the cookbook you need. It has some nice information on various issues (eg, fish), but not perfect information about any particular food or gender (ie, BBQing). I prefer to refer to the cooks who are masters in their chosen fields Eileen Yin-Fei Lo, or Martin Yan, Chinese cuisine, Rick Bayless Mexican food Lidia Italian, etc. .. because they give a history of cooking as Bittman, I can not do so great in the book. It is ambitious, but not only for me and my needs. Summarizing loses 1 star pretensions and ego 1 star for its lack of depth and context, kitchen, 1 star for being too big for my cookbook stand

  • In How to Cook Everything Mark Bittman has written a thriller that hooks from the first page and do not let the last. The story moves fast and exciting is relentless. More than recipes, you really care about the characters and the dilemma, most related to cooking, as they are faced with Bittman. This is not a novel for the faint of heart is a loss, pain, violence, and especially the gut wrenching many recipes that will test their strength and maturity. But if you live with it, and it is difficult to bail anyway, you, I think, with a feeling of having read something special and happy.
