I almost did not buy this because of the 1-star reviews - but then I realized the respondents were just ignorant. (Ignorant Amazon reviewers?!, Gosh what impression ...). I used a fuse tap to install a 12V cigarette lighter adapter permanently in my truck for this panel. The 1 or 1. 5 volt trickle is enough to keep my battery topped indefinitely, even after 2 to 3 weeks to sit in the driveway (while sometimes my battery was almost dead after sitting for a week). Almost purchased the unit from 5 volts to double, but is half the size and have proved to work well.

This product has been purchased to keep the battery of a vehicle that is driven infrequently. Works well. Note that is not designed to recharge a battery that is low, just keep the rate. If you need a charger, consider a model that gives more power (watts). The unit is fairly small and has an LED that indicates which is the production of energy. I would buy it again.

The description clearly says that this little device can be used in any climate. Once unpacked, this is apparently not the case, and when you read the instructions at the bottom of the page in small print it says that the product is used outdoors without protection! For a device designed to maintain a battery "full", usually the units are not close to home (plows, tractors, automatic gates, etc.) This seems to be a fatal design flaw! Other than that - the device seems to work well as a trickle charger.
